Two-factor authentication | Wagepoint

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor Authentication, also known as 2FA, is an extra layer of security that is also known as multi-factor authentication.

In addition to the username and password, a user also has to provide a piece of information, only accessible to them - often called a security token. This makes it harder for unauthorized people to use your account or access your personal data.

Wagepoint uses the Google Authenticator to provide a security token. For more information, please read the help file from Google.

How it works:

First enable 2FA from your account settings. Then, every time you log-in you’ll be asked to enter an authentication code that you can find in the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Select Account Settings.

  2. Select the Security Tab.

  3. Under the section ‘Two-Factor Authentication’, click on the ‘Enable Two-factor Authentication’ link.

  4. Enter your password for security purposes.

  5. Go through the setup wizard

    1. Make sure you print the set of Recovery Codes (one-off codes, that can be used in case you can not access your phone)

  6. 2FA is now enabled.

Disable Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Select Account Settings.

  2. Select the Security Tab.

  3. Under the section ‘Two-Factor Authentication’, click on the ‘Disable Two-factor Authentication’ link.

  4. Enter your password for security purposes.

  5. Go through the wizard and disable 2FA.

  6. 2FA is now disabled.

Logging In

With 2FA enabled, when you login you will be asked to enter an authentication code

  1. Go to the Wagepoint log-in/sign-in page.

  2. Enter your email/username.

  3. Enter your password.

  4. On the authentication page, enter the 6-digit code found in the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone or smart-device.

  5. Click Verify and you will be successfully logged in.

If you have lost your phone or can not access your authentication code

  1. From the authentication page, click on the link: ‘I need help with an authentication code’.

  2. Enter in the 16-digit recovery code (this is a code that was provided during setup of 2FA). Each code can only be used once.

  3. You will be successfully logged in.
